Just picked up a CPO 2013 X5 E70 3.5d the other day. Had a E53 X5 before that. My first impressions of my Diesel E70.
Feels more solid but engine noise at acceleration is a little louder than my gas E53 4.4. I kind of like the truck sound
. Tremendous amount of torque and will make a great tow vehicle. OEM hitch is very expensive so if you get a CPO may be worth negotiating them to add that for free.
I am also getting about 29 mpg which is much better than the 13 mpg I got with my 4.4 X5. Yes hunting around for Diesel can be a little bit of a pain but after you find the stations near you that goes away. Also no issues starting at very cold temps.. maybe a couple seconds delay after pressing start button when temps approach 0 degrees. Dealer tops off DEF(exhaust fluid) when it goes it for oil change so no big deal. Kids get a kick out of the car as it runs on Pee(DEF is Urea)
Overall very happy.
