If you are 6' or taller, and drive with the thigh support extended, it's obvious why the sport seats are more comfortable.

The lower seating surface is around 22" long (front edge to seatback). That's living room couch size thigh support (to the knee).

While shopping for used E53s at BMW dealers, a few dealership employees commented that tall customers seem to find the sport seats the choice for comfort. Tall customers complained about numb butts and sharp pain/cramps in lower legs when comfort seats were in their E53s.
