Yeah, I stuffed it down in there with the factory harness as much as I could. I was concerned mostly with rattle from the bits. I have not had any troubles with rattles.
I saw on some install somewhere that an E46 mid mount just screws into place on the door panel. The screen and everything come out. I did not do it this way on my E53 and I think I may have done it the hard way. Working with the speaker free of the door would have been easier. I will try this when I do the E46 mids in the front doors.
