I cleaned everything up and I was hoping that it was the actual hoses/pipes coming out of the alternator bracket that run through the oil thermostat and then into the oil cooler, but I can see the oil leak is actually seeping out from UNDER the bracket that is sandwiched between the engine block and alternator.

So that's it right? This is the infamous "Alternator bracket leak" ?

How big a job is this on a this car? I've heard of it being a big job on cars that actually have blanking plates since they don't have oil coolers - but since this one does I presume it's just as bad since the leak is behind the bracket and not from the hose coupling(s) into the oil cooler thermostat.

Here's the part on RealOEM https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=11_3338

And the bracket + seals themslves https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=12_1242
