Since the parking brake is used every time you shut down the car, it does not suffer from lack of use. This is the default behavior on the E70

Good info. Curious though, is there any point in pulling the parking brake just before shutting the engine off like I always do if it's going to engage anyway? Or am I misunderstanding something?

When I turn the car back on, maybe I won't have to release it? Can't remember the last time I didn't actually pull it - just habit now.
