I think I found the cure: teflon pad used for gaming mice. I found some extra thick that is sold as a sheet you cut to size. A sheet of Teflon between the metal parts will first block most water from getting there and second ice won't stick. I will do a test in the freezer on the next actuator I remove.

I have a broken DHC that wasn't cold related (just wore out; fatigue failure). I will remove the actuator when I fix that and do a test soon as tomorrow.
