It unclips with no drama but unless you are good with electronics, there's not much you can do in there - beyond confirming it's clean or corroded.

Most likely reason for your fault is a broken wire in the rubber boot in the door hinge area but it's still worth looking at the switch module - just in case - and it's easier to get at!!

Don't unplug the door loom in the hinge area without disconnecting the battery - otherwise you'll set an SRS (airbag) fault....
