I thought that too but I've been informed (on this forum) that all USA cars had at least premium audio and therefore an extra amp module in the rear, even where DSP and/or Nav was not fitted. This makes the 6m extension cable required for two of the three main audio configurations: -

1. Basic audio (no Nav) - amp in dash as part of CD Player/Radio - 6M cable NOT required
2. Premium Audio - (with or without Nav) - amp in trunk - 6m cable IS required
3. DSP - (with or without Nav) - amp in trunk - 6m cable AND iBus USB/App IS required

This is a simplified list... (and there's bound to be exceptions!) and of course, the iBus USB/App setup is a good idea, even without DSP...

*edit* and... I messed that list up. See Overboost's corrected list below... See? I said there would be exceptions!
