I hear you on the $$ for a M57 tune. I have almost pulled the trigger several times now but I can't get over the total cost and the unknowns associated with what the tuners have done in the background. Some tuners disable portions of the diagnostic system. I always tune my turbos but not this time.

Then there is the looming emissions concern. The american truck coal rollers have gotten the attention of the EPA. Recently, a big tuner just got a fine in excess of $1m. This alone could scare the vendors out of business.

Originally I lived in FL where emissions are non existent. But now I am in AZ where we have a visual inspection for diesels. I asked how long before they can hook up and tell if the car is compliant and the inspector said "soon".
