I am nearly ready to button this job up, but have one last concern.
On disassembly, I broke the retaining tab off of the cable that engages with the interior door handle. Super glue/JB Weld didn't hold on reassembly.
I have the cable engaged with the handle, and am at the threshold of finishing up- The repaired inner door panel is perfectly sealed, everything else ready to go but obviously I don't want the cable to disengage from the door handle after all this. I have contemplated making up some sort of retainer out of aluminum or plumbers band iron that I can thread around the back of the cable, and tab over the door handle. Just not confident this will actually retain the cable in place during use.
I know the correct solution is to just get a new cable and do it right. If there is a way to just finish and get it out of the garage and back on the road I would be much happier!
Anyone else try something similar?
thanks!
