Purplefade is on a distinguished road
Hey CW, what my buddy did, wish I had pics to make it more clear... is he removed the two factory speakers and then traced the flat area where they were and made a plate out of 3/8 birch to fill that area and level it off with the raised portion there towards the bottom of the factory box. Once he had that all caulked and sealed he put a 1/4 piece of "hardboard" across that entire top surface, the birch he put in and the lip of plastic at the bottom, sealed all the ridges, bumps and any gaps with construction adhesive and let it dry for a few days and sanded it smooth.

Once it was all set up he cut the hole in it and squeezed a 10" Dual VC speaker in there with a crap ton of poly fill. Actually sounded decent when he was done too! He gutted the factory plugs, etc while he had the hole cut for the speaker and was able to reach in.
