Snow tires are such an important thing if you regularly have to drive in the snow. I have a pre-X-Drive car, but even with "all-terrain" tires I always found I had to tread super carefully in the snow. I personally don't believe that people who drive on all-terrain tires and think they are good in the snow has ever driven a car on tires that are actually safe in the snow. AWD (especially good AWD) gives you a false sense of security because AWD doesn't help you to stop in snow and ice any faster, or even to avoid things better. The difference in stopping with the right tires is massive.
