And yes, you will get microscratches. But not a whole lot more than just using your car day to day. Hell, stray cats do 1000000x (anyone know a good way to "get rid" of strays?) more damage to the paint on our vehicles than any amount of washing. A once a year polish takes care of all the microscratches.
If you never wax/polish your paint, then maybe after 5 years a tunnel wash could ruin your paint job. But even then I'd bet a good paint correction could bring it right back.
