You could try just the pan/filter and Valvoline first if you want though. The fluid is not expensive (especially compared to ZF LG6) so wasting a drain/fill would not cost much.

PS: I would not use LG6. It's too thin on a high mileage trans unless you are doing all the seals and full service on the valve body.
How difficult or challenging to remove the valve body to access those tube seals?
