Can't believe DSC started out as a high-tech feature on the E38 7-Series. It should be a government required thing, like airbags.

Well, other cars have similar things. Audi and Benz use Bosch's ESP system. It's cool how BMW engineers some of their own technologies instead of purchasing licenses for this stuff.
How do those sub-systems work? Do you know if there are any others? I know I'm asking a lot of questions (curious, obviously) but I'm interested in these sorts of things. I still marvel sometimes at some of the features the car has, liek a rain sensor, but DSC is so amazing! It works so well. It's saved my butt many times (especially on the snow, but on dry pavement too) and I agree that stability control should be government-mandated, especially in SUVs.
