I'm lucky if my key, in hand, can remote unlock the car from 50 feet away..let alone some how get magically amplified by a phone miles away..bounce off a couple satellites come back to my cell phone (switching between analog and digital signals a half-a-million times) and open my car

My bet is the person who "called the car ...and it worked" was within the range of the car. Like standing in their kitchen looking into their driveway.
