From what I'm reading in the wiring diagram it takes the signal from position L2 on the gearshift switch. You should have 12v in both park and in Neutral.

In park it should be
L1 12v
L2 12v
L3 12v
L4 0
L5 0

Have you checked fuse number F105? If it is blown the EWS will not send power to allow the starter to turn.


If you are stuck you can try something. Disconnect the plug from the EWS and jump pin 1 to pin 2 on the plug not the EWS unit. This bypasses the EWS and sends 12v to the starter interupt relay. It still my not start but it should at least crank.
