Do you have any suggestions to clean it? The gap around the button is really narrow so I don't know what I could stick there to clean. I do not want to disassemble the console to clean the button at all.

Any suggestions?

3M has a kind of product that is used to clean electrical devices like PC board. I suggest you to use this. It dries out very quick and won't be harmful to the circuit inside.

WD40 can be very bad to the plastic and
wood panel. Also, if you spray water onto the button, even tiny amount of water inside could cause damage to the circuit.
