I hear mixed reviews on the spicy stuff... too much can cause more discomfort with the ulcer, but supposedly the capsaicin supposedly creates an inhospitable environment for the bacteria that makes an ulcer... so it helps "heal" it faster.

So in my case, too much alcohol got through the mucus liner at what feels like the top of my stomach, allowing the bacteria that lives in our stomachs to infect that spot, and my ulcer is born. The food I love down here in cajun country will actually be one of the possible keys to kicking this ulcer's butt, and I have antibiotics left over from my last surgery to help as well.
