A decision was handed down in August last year and Stansberry and his company (then Pirate Capital, now Stansberry & Associates) were ordered to pay "$1.5 million in restitution and civil penalties for disseminating false stock information and defrauding public investors through a financial newsletter," but they maintain their innocence and the case may well be on appeal
