Welcome from another 260 owner

Mk3s can I think be updated, although something sticks in my mind now, come to think about it about them being knobbled by BMW so MGR couldn't update them. (Wouldn't surprise me).

Anyway, MK IV is the way to go, as you see above. However, its not cheap.

You need...
16:9 Screen, around £250-350, tape or CD versions are fine.
16:9 Video Unit. Around £200 ish for an Analogue to an outrageous £500 for a hybrid tuner!
MkIV Sat Nav - around the £300 mark.

Screen has to come out of a E46 3 Series and you'll need to get a hacksaw / dremel out to remove the two tabs on the side of the unit - ours is fixed in by the two top screws alone.

Video Unit and DVD can come out of a variety of cars, although I know the X5 and E46 are the main two. Be careful its the right one though, as the iDrive versions don't work! You need the earlier MkIV DVD system.

So its best part of a grand! And it still doesn't do full postcode lookups (although you can get, ahem, certain versions of the maps with them added).

But as far as the OEM look goes, you can't beat it and it is miles better than the Mk3.
