the issue is not the actual problem with the car - the main issue is that this dealer is not really competent and is throwing parts at the problem at the warranty expense - when warranty runs out, at whose expense he will do that? and, how much damage will he do in the process?
he has compromised his reputation, and i would not buy from him... is there a lemon law in IL?
Our shop just received a white E70 with couple hundred bullet holes,

and our guys are going to bring the car back into life - armored vehicle, so the internal guts are all good (occupants were scared to death but all survived)... i still would not buy it (it is NOT for sale!!) after they fix it, who knows what else is wrong with it...
same with this one in IL - walk away from it now, while you have a chance, this car is becoming a Frankenstein!!!
