Phatbox Installation Tips for the X3

Contributed by: ace

The only place I could successfully locate mine was under the passenger seat (drivers seat would probably work too).

Note:

It does not fit in the console (dms cartridge sticks out).

I have my sirius receiver in the back, so I could not use that
location. If you're prewired for satellite and don't have it, you can
probably use the 3 and 6 pin connectors back there.

Phatbox had to be mounted upside-down under the seat to give it just
enough room for the seat motor to pass over it. Move the seat all the
way forward, and locate the box right next to the subwoofer. Move the
seat back to normal position, and the motor will keep the box in place.
When you want to take the cartridge out, just move the seat up, and
slide the box out (make sure to leave some slack in the cable under the
seat).

Blitzsafe adaptor can be located in the console, under the metal
bracket. Wrap it in the padding that the 3 and 6 pin connectors were
in, and the bracket will keep it firmly in place.

Run the cable toward the front of the car just past the cup holder
where there is a seam in the carpet. Exit the console, and hide cable
behind seam. Run it under seat and exit seam, connect to phatbox.
Voila!!!

Note, I also posted today on phatnoise.com a problem I recently
discovered. It seems the phatbox conflicts with Sirius, causing a
crackling sound when listening to Sirius. I found that if you turn the
key to the first position until the radio comes on, then start the car,
the problem disappears.
