If you are struggling with wax getting on the black trim, try using blue painters masking tape next time to prevent it from happening while waxing. If you still get wax on the black parts, try vegetable oil on a cloth to get it out, and then wipe it dry. I have followed that up with Mother's Back to Black with acceptable results.

poorboy's trim restorer is perfect!!!

For removing wax you should use all purpose cleaner or a pencil gum.

I agree with Phil.

Mothers Back-to-Black has worked really well for me too.

I use Kiwi Mink Oil (yes the shoe waterproofer) on all the black plastic trim on my 2005 X5. Apply with a foam applicator, let dry and buff to a satin sheen with a terry cloth. Great stuff as it is a water repellent so won't wash off easily and is resistant to car wash soap. I use the NXT car wash and have not seen any dulling of the trim since I applied before winter. I absolutely hate the shiny, greasy look on trim and tires. The Mink Oil result is satin at best, but provides a deep rich, dark appearance. My bumpers, running boards and wheel arch trim were chalky from the elements. They now look like new.
