Brake dust on wheels

I bought a 2008 X5 in August and love it. I noticed that there seems to be a lot of brake dust on the front wheels after very few miles driven. I have dutifully cleaned it off but it seems excessive to me. A friend who owns a 5 series tells me this is common with BMW's. Any thoughts about wheel treatments or easy methods to keep the wheels clean of brake dust between washes?

Note picture of X5 wheels below...

I have noticed that the brake dust on my X5 is very hard to get off, but the brake dust on my 135i rolls right off when I spray the cleaner on it.
Maybe if you used a wax/polymer that is safe to use on the wheels it would help.

Poorboys Wheel Sealant works great, apply 2 coats and all you will need is to rinse your wheels with water. I re-apply once a month

Found this "test" on another site...

I found this guy on another site that tested Poor Boys vs. something called NXT. Maybe some good ideas here?

try a non acidic wheel cleaner to remove it, if that doesn't shift it, try claying the alloy.

Once the wheels are clean, seal the alloy with something like poorboys wheel sealent. this makes it easier to clean as the brakedust doesn't etch into the alloy as much.
