Looks like the same thing I did to my wheels using basic degreaser that I bought from WalMart in a huge like 3 gallon jug. I spent the weekend painting my calipers and noticed grease splattered all over the inside of the wheel, which led me to a broken CV boot. Good times.
Love the brakes BTW...I can only imagine how much better they work than the stockers.

You should clean off the old wheel weights, it would look a lot cleaner :p

I thought about removing everything and re-balancing with new sticky weights, but I think after getting 99.9% of it clean, I called it good.
The buyer of one or both of the fronts that I am selling will get some clean wheels! (shameless plug)

I meant just the old foam/glue from the weights that are no longer there. I don't mean removing the weights that still have the metal on them. But either way

Ah... actually I did clean that little bit of glue stuff up about a week afterwards while I was bleeding the brakes. (I used goo-gone) Good call!

BMW wheel cleaner Gel
I was very impressed with the deep clean the Sonax product gave your wheels - last weekend I splurged and bought the BMW Wheel Cleaner Gel at the dealer for $7.95.
The BMW leather cleaner is the only one I've found that leaves your seats more matt finished when done- so thats why I thought I would try gel - the BMW gel really cleaned and made the wheels glow - very easy to use - soft brush and hose off - I saw the Sonax packaging and it is identical to the BMW packaging except for label - are they the same product? - The BMW product seems to be a lot cheaper - and the results are great - really cut my wheel cleaning time down on my 550 msport rims. - my 2 cents |

The identical bottles (BMW and Sonax) is interesting. I made a mental note of that a while back at the dealer but thought nothing of it. My rationale was that both companies might use the same bottle manufacturer over in Germany. Good eye!
