Stubborn Water Spots on Glass (Phil feel free to chime in)

Even though my glass is cleaned, clayed, etc, when I'm done drying the car I still notice old water spots still embedded in the glass. Wiping the windows clean with glass cleaner doesn't help, and it's amplified because my windows are all tinted 15% and the black background makes them more visible.

Obviously I know using a machine is preferable because most of these spots have been there for years, I have a PC with 6" pads though. I think I need to get either the Griots 3" machine, or just get the 3" backing plate and some 3" pads to use on the PC. The 6" pads are way too big to use on glass, would be tough to get into the corners, etc.

However, what products to use? Can I use my Menzerna FG400 or SF4000 like I would use if I was correcting/polishing my paint? I also bought some Mothers Water Spot Remover last year on a whim, I tried it by hand but didn't see much difference.

Chime in here and let me know what you guys use, ironically DD doesn't sell a true glass specific polish that I can find on their website.

I use extra fine steel wool with Windex or 3M glass cleaner.

If thats not enough, I have a Zaino glass polish that works exceptionally well. I actually used that polish with my rotary on a shower door that hadn't been cleaned in 5 years and it came out looking like new.

Barkeepers friend, didn't think of that, I may give that a try.

And Slick its not about the wipe down of the windows, even though they are streak free I think the PO had it parked outside for a while because there are some water spots literally embedded into the glass.

I'd like to know about the Zaino glass polish as I'd like to use my machine to polish out the glass if possible, I'll do some research (although I'm guessing its a similar formula to the Mothers glass polish I already have)

I had some water spots on my sunroof of my old civic and I used vinegar to get most off but was never able to completely

I have some cerama-bryte glass cooktop cleaner under the sink that I might try in an inconspicuous spot to see if it helps any.

Otherwise I'm going to break out the PC later with an orange pad and the Mothers Water Spot remover I already have (after claying the windows of course)

Will update with some pics if I see some differences.

Bar keepers friend and elbow grease. Great combination.

Good suggestions guys, I will keep the 0000 steel wool and barkeepers friend ideas in hand, for now I'm going to see what I can accomplish with what I have "off the shelf".

-Mothers Water Spot Remover
-PC DA polisher with Yellow, Orange, and Green pads (6.5", I know I'll need smaller ones to get the corners eventually, the 4" pads and 3" bp are on my next order from DD)
-Menzerna SF4000 polish
-Menzerna FG400 compound

I had a few back and forth emails with Phil at DD and he suggested to try out the FG400 compound I have from Menzerna and let him know how it finishes on glass. I'm all about the "least aggressive method first" crowd, and know I will probably have to use my PC with some pads in order to save my elbows.

I used the Mothers Water Spot Remover I have on my shelf last night, applied with a MF applicator by hand, using elbow grease, definitely came out clearer, but some spots still remain. I may actually start out using the Mothers Glass polish with my PC and pads, and see what results I get. I know its a gentler polish than say a Menzerna FG400 compound, or at least I hope it is. Regardless, I will try and get some before and afters of the process and let everyone know what products work.
