fumoto oil drain valve

Take a look:

http://www.fumotovalve.com/

I have 3 of these with over 440,000 combined miles with no problems, and one is over 20 years old. If anyone is interested in a group buy, I will have firmer information in 2-3 days about prices. All BMW engines have the same thread, and all seem to require the adaptor for a recessed drain hole (for my 3.0 X3 at least). I don't think the nipple is necessary, but I'll see what the price difference is. The nipple allows you to attach a tube and presumable allows "cleaner" oil drainage with less splash. Not a big deal to me, but some X5 folks with the oil access cover might like this. Oil changes are a snap with this valve. Online retail price is $23 w/o nipple, $26 with nipple, and adaptor is $6. So, either $29 or $32 before the group discount and shipping. Let me know if interested. I'll put up possible prices on 1/23 or 1/24.

Jon -

There's an online vendor (www.lubricationspecialist.com) who also sells the Fumoto valves. The website shows $20 (no nipple) and $21 (with nipple) for the valves.

Their website states "We are one of the largest Fumoto valve dealers in the country. We have the lowest price on the internet. Watch for those that appear to be cheaper because you can bet their shipping will make up the difference. We give big discounts to dealers (restrictions apply)so call us and stock the worlds best oil drain valve."

I've sent an email to this company to see if they also offer a group buy discount. I'll post the response as soon as I receive it.

Regards, Mike

Had something similar on my Fatboy - loved it. However, I don't think I'm going to be doing too many more DIY oil changes any more. Too dirty for me and not very fun like a new mod...

Let's see what this other vendor can do for us. I'll post prices tomorrow, hopefully.

Jon,

Here's the feedback I received - Greg Landuyt at Lubrication Specialist, LLC. says the best discount he can give is $1 per valve - $19 no nipple or $20 with nipple for a minimum purchase of 20 nipples, er, I mean valves.

Regards, Mike

Sorry for the delay. I had to go out of town last week unexpectedly.

Here are prices:
Pricing for 10-50pcs 51-100pcs
F109 $16.50 each $15.50ea
F109N $20.00 each $19.00ea
AFP-109 $5.75 each $ 5.25ea

F109 is without nipple
F109N is with nipple
AFP109 is the required adaptor for the recessed oil pan.

I will have to determine shipping cost, as they will all be sent to me, and then I'll mail them out. Only United States shipping for now, unless there is a tremendous international demand.

Any interest? Is Feb 28 a reasonable deadline to sign up? I will set up paypal if you are interested. It's also ok with me if someone else wants to handle distribution.

Unlike the standard Engine Oil Drain Valve which was designed for automobile and truck applications, the N-Type valve is equipped with a Nipple to enable the operator to attach a hose and drain the engine oil out of tight spots and away where access to the plug itself and resulting mess are often problems. Like the standard Engine Oil Drain Valve, this spring assisted ball valve replace standard oil drain plug making oil changes easier and saving valuable time. Also ideal for oil sampling analysis as a small amount of oil can be drawn without shutting off the engine. The N-Type Engine Oil Drain Valve takes the mess out of routine maintenance on industrial engines. Also N-Type Valves are available for passenger cars, trucks and vans.
