yes, AWD will spin ALL the tires much better than RWD.

Get winter rubber, even in the cold (just above freezing) it makes an amazing difference...

I think perhaps a link with the most commonly used winter tires would be great too. Just my two cents.

Is Tire Rack a paid sponsor?

I just purchased a set of tires from them with mix results.

1) It took them two days to ship the tires even though I made the order one line before the start of the first business day.

2) The tires where stored such that the bead was pressed out of shape and it took three guy on the tire machine to get the tires to achieve the seal.

I have purchase other tires from them in the past with much better results.

No, tire rack has not been a site sponsor here for several year now

Interesting about Tire Rack. Just ordered tires from them for the first time. ORdered Continental Extreme Contact DWS (staggered 20s) on 2/24 and were in my driveway 2/26 (I thought they would come in some box or something). Installed at my BMW dealer this week and I have been pleased with them. Need a few hundred miles for finishing compounds to wear off, but they are quiet so far.

Just a reminder that if your winter tire tread depth is 6/32 or below, its time for new tires. Drive safe.
