Another pro Conti helps because they are actually cheaper than the Bridgestone. Are these 20's you have and are they staggered like they would on mine (275/40 and 315/35)?

That's right they're cheaper than brigdestone ...because your 4.8is will chew up the conti's in no time (10k miles most...)
28 k miles on brigdestone here and still look like new.

DWS

I've had the Conti's on my 4.6is for well over a year and they are problem free. I'm very happy with them, and the price makes them even better

I've had the Continentals for about 6 months and they performed great in the snow here in Chicago. They aren't noticeably loud when driving on the highway but I haven't had any other tires to compare to.

ps. I have a '07 4.8 with the staggered 20 inchers.

17K miles on my Conti's. DWS still there. (214s). Original Dunlop SportMaxx lasted less than 15 K

Yeah I think people need to clarify what tire size/X5 model when stating what mileage they are getting. The OP I believe is looking for 20" on the 4.8. There is going to be a difference on wear between the e53 and e70 models among the different tires. I have about 8K left on my 20" Dunlop Sport Maxs. I will most likely go with the Bridgestone Dueler RFTs next as I have 3rd row-seat (no spare) and also have the BMW Wheel Protection so a non-RFT the dealer will most likely repair vs. RFTs they replace when there is a nail.
