2000 BMW 528i Wagon Project Car

Hi fellow BMW owners, I am a current '01 E53 with manual transmission.

Just want to introduce the car. I will visit/join more focused forums for this car.

Recently acquired this 2000 BMW 528i Wagon Sport (unfortunately automatic and gray interior) for $300.Two weeks into ownership, repaired/checked a few things:
  1. Replaced windshield trim and cowl
  2. replaced rear window regulator driver side
  3. Replaced 2 hood latches and cables. Got the car with broken hood cable. Lucked out since break was inside the car. Removed trim panels and able to use vise grip to pull cable.
  4. Replaced broken glove compartment latch mechanism
  5. polished headlight lenses
  6. replaced headlight adjusters
  7. Checked cabin filters and air filter
I'm excited to dig deeper into this car and will address immediate needs:
  1. New front tires
  2. Oil change
  3. Transmission Fluid - this concerns me the most since it was never replaced (sealed transmission my a**). Car has 160K miles.
  4. fuel filter
  5. Address SRS light. BMW Scanner showing "not found." The rest of the modules along K-Bus is accessible. More likely SRS module is the problem. I will be removing the SRS module for corrosion. Will get a replacement from Ebay if/when necessary.

Those 17" style 5's are worth triple what you paid forthe car. Nicebuy. Love me some e39 wagon.
