Breaking News: M3 Convertible

According to Autospies, they say "Reliable sources tell AutoSpies.com that BMW will one up the competition on the next convertible M3, by employing a fully retractable carbon fiber kevlar roof, in order to get the highest performance AND functionality."

Sounds sweet to me!

And, the "trunk".
Maybe the Stlrs will sell BMW toothbrushes and
throwaway undies, as that is all will "fit" for
those weekend "trips".

So will the roof be painted body color or clear-coated? Why did BMW do only the roof, why not do the hood and trunk lids?

Best comment on the autospies website:
"Kevlar roof...that's too cool.
Now all it needs are rocket launchers."

Not sure why, but I while I hate the look of the trunk and hood in unpainted CF, I don't mind the roof in unpainted CF. If I had a vote, I'd say paint it all...

Well my guess is the new M3 is trying to compete with the Audi RS4 (which goes for around 70K with most options and starts at 66K). A carbon roof?? Sounds like it would add WAY too much to the price tag. I'm guessing the new M3 will start around 60-63K then knowing BMW options will pop it up to 70K quickly. All IMO of course.
