Nope I haven't started picking it apart as of yet.
What's your take? Has the quality slipped?

Not sure about the quality but the price and the residuals went up considerably. 36 month lease is coming in at almost $2K

That is a lot of money you can lease a X6, X5 or 5 for about half.

Don't think quality has slipped. They have made several changes to tech used in making the car. And I am glad they did as some tech used was getting old. e.g. the way door was hinged and its movement. BMW is seriously working towards making their cars lighter as part of EfficientDynamics program.

The new 7 has already received some awards in tech used.

Just remembered;

The 7 I sat in had those auto close doors.
But aside from watching them do their
thing I didn't have enough time to give
a detailed look see.

It doesn't appear on the BMW lease program
web site either.

Viperfreak2 is on a distinguished road
Look closely at the new 7 door 'brake' system. It uses a strut instead of a traditional 2 or 3 position mechanical device. Wherever you place the door is where it will stay. It makes the door feel very light (like opening a heavy hatch or trunklid) and takes a little getting used to, but should make door dings (at least on other cars, for now) less likely.

Wasn't this already available on the last 7 series?

I tried once already to do just that. Saw it on the road being test driven and followed it to the dealer to take a close up look. Strangely enough he pulled into a Lexus dealership and since I break out in hives if I get within 50 feet of a toyota I took off.
