The BMW: An Expression of Joy (a 30 minute promo for the new Z4) is now airing on TV. It's an art-centric look at the new Z4's development. Well produced, well written, boring as hell, but probably worth at least one viewing by Bimmerphiles.

Next viewings: 05/24/2009 and 05/26/2009 on the HD Channel. Check your local program guide for viewing times.

I agree. Boring as hell. Barely made it through it myself. BMW had some fantastic marketing ideas in the past ('driver' movies, ultimate drive events, neiman marcus special editions, even using the art cars for advertisement) but this is just a lame attempt at doing something (anything) to launch a new model. You could substitute a prius and it wouldn't make any difference in the level of impact.

I'm impressed you made it to the end. I only made it to the point where they were looking for a place to do the "painting" before I changed the channel. I might have been more interested if they used a X5/X6 M or M3.

Yes, it was such a shame that an opportunity like that was wasted. I got to it after it started and was very disappointed. Having to listen to the "artist" blather on about whatever the hell it was he was saying was painful. It was typical artist speak justifying driving around with paint on tires was some incredible achievement like he had discovered a cure for cancer.

Show me the engineering, testing, manufacturing, and the finished product being put through its paces and skip the self-important artist and his verbal diarrhea.
