Quicksilver will become famous soon enough
Confirmed: BMW 5 Series Diesel Coming to U.S.

Maybe LeMans already posted it but the dealer mentioned
it and I thought it was good news.

I remember last year the training facility in Atlanta had a diesel version of the E70, E60 and E90...! I'm kinda disappointed they didn't implement them sooner. (why would they train US techs on them if they aren't coming to the US)

They need to get the techs trained before they introduce cars and SUVs with diesels. Otherwise, you get dealers that don't have parts in stock, don't know what DEF is, don't know if it is included in the maintenance program or not.... wait, all that happened.

I do think that a 320d would make a lot of sense, more so than the 335d.

Yes it would make sense, but since when did the US market make sense?

320d or 323d

For some reason I see them sticking to the same diesel engine '335d'

I could see the 323d actually catching on... if they said it was a 6 cylinder.

The 20d is a ripper. Even in the X3 it's great, even better in the 3 Series and almost a performance engine in the 1 Series.

As for a diesel 5 Series in the North America, won't BMW just use the 35d on the grounds of parts/service practicality?

And the fact that they already have that one set up for US emissions... which is one of the reasons the diesels weren't here before.
