Got a 2002 3-series, but could NOT stop with a 325... ended up with a 330xi :-) see here:

BMW wheel cleaner (pump spray). Low dust pads (Axxis deluxe or equivalent). And a set of winter wheels with 5 large spokes. That was my formula.
