BMW lease is finished

well, the lease on the 335ixDrive has come to an end and the car was turned in on july 28 2013 to the BMW of Fairfax...

We got the car on December 8, 2012 with 4669 miles on the clock, and my honey has put in 14.5K miles since that day. the car has been parked for a couple of weeks, like when we had a FL vacation or whatnot...

The stats since the beginning:

from the 12/8/2012
to 07/28/2013 she put on the clock

14,535 miles
628.859 gallons of premium fuel that cost $2,386.99
that resulted in 23.11329 miles per gallon which translated to $0.16 of fuel per mile driven.

general amortization of the cost associated with this car came to about $0.42 a driven mile that brought the total cost of having the car to $0.58

I am sure my math is flawed, and I do not have any other base to compare this info to, but this is a baseline that I am establishing to compare to ownership of the next car that she is driving now, Mercedes-Benz C300 sport.

Nice car, Terminator...
And, imo your arith is pretty on the spot. Many cars are in the ~ 50Cts a mile range, when one actually figures in/admits to, all the 'costs'.
Gives one pause as I run down the mtn to the golf club or grocery store.

What is your CEO getting to replace it?

that white MB on the picture is the new ride...
2012 C300 Sport... not as loaded as the 335 was (it was ///M-package, with every North American available option checked off) but still, stays in the class of premium sports sedans...

even though, she already claimed that the bimmer was harder and she liked it better...

what is with the women and their fascination with hard things????

T, sorry I didn't scroll right on your wide pic.
There's the Boss and cool new car!

66 here in a couple three weeks. The hard stuff is mostly getting out of the rack in the morning, and getting the parts to motor my ol'butt up the mtn for my daily hard walk.

i did some more calculations with the numbers - we "owned" the car for 232 days, the daily cost of long term "rent" was $26.35 a day (at @10.29 a day for fuel the cost came to $36.64 per day). that did not include insurance, i will calculate that later. i think, it is not that bad to "rent" a premium car for ~$30 a day. average daily mileage came to 62 miles a day... we turned the car in with 3300 miles left unused, which could have made daily average 76 miles a day...

just playing with the numbers

Seems like a very atypical lease. You assumed someone elses?

yes Sir - getting into standard lease would be financial suicide with the miles she puts in to her cars... like 2000 miles a month...
buying an old clunker - did not want to deal with the repair bills and possible headaches...
buying a new car - too much money and the new warranty will run out too fast anyways...

so, we assumed somebody's lease with a lot of miles left:

the 335 was on a 27 month lease with 22K miles, the guy had the car for 20 months and drove 4600 miles total, so my wife put about 15 K miles in the last 7 months and we turned the car in with 19K miles on the clock...

the C300 is on a 36 months lease with 45K miles allowance, there were 10 months left and the car had 22K miles on the clock when we took it over...

this way we are utilizing somebody's loss as our gain... I find it to be rather nice... of course, if it were not the MB or the bimmers, the whole thing would have been much much cheaper, but my girl is spoiled... lol...
