Stevens Creek BMW wants MSRP + $10k AMV for the demo model.
Sadly I'm sure some kid from Facebook and/or Google will pay it.

Unless BMW changes the lease/financing rates, I'll enjoy my 4.8is for a little longer...
50-54% residual & .00029 money factor is a JOKE! 3yrs on a 100k car = 72k cost. Pass!

Residual is:
52%-15k
54%-12k
55%-10k

.0029 is 6.96% interest rate. Which is not great.. But certainly not horrible.

And $100k on the X5M is way overpaying and way over optioning the vehicle..

Do you really need $6k worth of ventilated seats?

For 18k miles I was quoted ~50%. Regardless, the difference between 50% and 54% is minor. Also a money factor of (.0029) 6.96% interest rate for a lease is crazy talk. I know the 1% lease rate the M3 had was a special promotion, however, once they see these trucks sit, they will be forced to lower them.

Also 100k is fully optioned out (minus roof racks). Yes I know that’s a lot in options, however, to make this truck that much better then the 4.8is, I need to option it out. As for 6k for ventilated seats, yes it’s a lot, however, I've never had them and always wanted them. Hot leather seats and sweaty backs are the worst after 12hr day at work (sorry for being overly descriptive).

Even so, spending a total of $71,000 for a 3yr lease (~2k a month) is crazy especially considering the residual is 50k and the total car value was $99,025.3
You might as well buy the truck with a 5-6% APR and sell it after 3yrs.

The unaware buyer that wants to be the first in the neighborhood with a X5(6)///M will take a major bath. My guess would be that most dealers know this and will shy away from those that have done their homework. If you have a good relationship with a dealer, you'll get what you want at the price you want. But let's face it, the general public doesn't live and breath this stuff like this group of ///M feens ............Phil

$2k a month?? Are you on crack?

And lets say you buy the car instead of lease it. You put $18,000 miles on it a year, that's 54,000 miles in the 3 years.. Which means you will have more miles on your X5 than any other one in the country.. What do you think that's going to do to your sale value? Your residual for ownership will be the same as BMW's residual for leasing..

.. Next, taxes.. 10% in Cali. So instead of paying $4500 in taxes over 3 years, you are paying $10,000 in taxes up front to the DMV.. Which also means you lost "opportunity costs" on keeping that money invested and working for you.. Even at 5% a year, that's another $1500 (just in tax money..)

Then lets also weigh in on the resale value.. What's the economy going to be like in 3 years? Gas prices? Buyers for a ///M vehicle?

No offense.. but you are talking crazy

I wish it were crazy talk. I'll post a scan of the dealer estimate later tonight showing a monthly payment of $19xx/month. Also the tax varies by county, thankfully I'm able to lock in a 8.25% rate. As for the opportunity cost, I'm aware of that, however, that’s very optimistic...

Regardless, paying 71k for 3yrs on a 100k car is nuts, especially with a 50k residual. Given the lease rates, buying is the only sensible way to go (unless you want to factor in variables like market conditions, savings rates, opportunity cost, etc...).
