Crashed his X5M...dealers fault!?!?!

Had to share this with you all. I work at a BMW Dealership in the wholesale parts and service department. Last week a client picked up his new black on black X5M with 6 miles on it. 3 days, and less than 100 miles later, he called in to report that he was using the rear camera to back up and punched a hole in his rear bumper on a decorative mailbox that was not easily seen on screen. He stated, that it was obviously our fault....the camera was either "not aimed properly or not functioning properly" and we should have caught this on the PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection).

At first we all thought it was a joke....it was not!!! Trying to figure out where people come up with these ideas!!!

Will let you know how this ends... the owner is in the law business so who knows...

Before I even read the last line of your post, I said to myself...he must be a lawyer! They are very good at twisting things and somehow try to put the blame on someone else or try to prove it was due to defective equipment. Anything but the person's fault. After all that's their job.

I have seen a msg on my rear view cam every now and then saying something about not relying on the camera alone. This is also why we have to click on the 'agree' button on the nav screen every time we get into the car!

People spill hot coffee in their lap and then blame McDonalds because the cup didn't have a warning on it! That's the beauty of the U.S. law...

I hope to god that it's documented somewhere saying that, and that when he signed the delivery inspection that he checked the box saying that he was shown the owners manual. This guy is doing nothing but providing job security for himself and other idiots out there like him who'd even attempt this, while showing his own ignorance and lack of responsibility at the same time. I just wanna stupid 's like that. OK, off my now

I was trying to go for a "best use of smilies" record to get for a second...how'd I do? Wow, I've been awake for too long this weekend...I need to goto sleep.
