I suspect there may be minor cosmetic changes over the next two of years, particularly wheel options and such, but the engine and chassis is new and will stick around for a while. The main facelift coming for 2011 will be for the non-M X5s which will be crossing over from naturally-aspirated to turbo land. Albeit nowhere near the power band of the M.
Are you sure? E90 M3 got the facelift in less than a year when the regular E90 got the facelift. I don't think BMW will be putting the old style angel eyes and tail lights on X5 M when the E70 X5 get the facelift in spring. Its cheaper for them to use same material from their suppliers for new stuff then stick to old style.

From what I have heard; other than 6-series and X3, 2011 models of all BMWs will be out in spring.

Really? So when do the '11 models officially roll out, do you know? My dealer tells me delivery takes 5 weeks, so if I order now I suppose it will still be a '10. However, I would certainly hold off ordering a couple weeks if '11 will role out in March or April....!?

There is a plant shutdown in late Feb or early March and they switch to 2011 models once it resumes production(Check X5 facelift thread). I don't see BMW making 2011 models for regular X5s and 2010 for X5 M at the same time. That has never happened. Same reason why they switched to LCI for the newly introduced E90 M3 and they also did for facelift M5 in 2007. Regular and ///M models get the facelift together.
