Actually...the issues aren't isolated in the least bit. Aside from several members in this forum who are experiencing the usual first year bugs, i have 2 comrades that are almost fed up with engine issues on their 2010 and 2011 M's. One is considering swapping for the Pepper TT even though he'd take a considerable financial hit but says he just can't seem to get over the fugly rear end...and another has had his M in the shop more times than he can recall.

It may very well be first year/model issues however, it's keeping myself and a several other comrades on the fence.

Did not mean to imply that the problem is not real or devastating.
It's just that all the folks enjoying their X5Ms are not writing in about how they like driving daily to the grocery store, dry cleaners, and Mall.

Us with engine problems will moan and shout the loudest but look at the number of us that have problems, for the production volume of the X5 M there seem to be an inordinate amount of complaints, many engine related.

I would be happy if mine was an isolated case, it would give me more confidence in the M, alas this is not the case though.

Hmmmm
Did a Google search for X5M Engine problems.
Saw plenty of recalls and issues on regular X5's. The only references to X5 M (after looking at hundreds of results) were a few topics in Xoutpost.
This to me indicates isolation.

Well that's obvious, seeing as the ratio of X5 Ms to regular X5s will be very small you will always find more complaints about non Ms. In addition to my fault there are others with turbo faults and quite a few with the whiring noise, others with DMTL and fuel pump issues not to mention the chronic stone chipping around the rear quarter which EVERY X5 M suffers from.
