M vs Non M

For those who have driven both, how much difference is there between the M driven in Normal mode(non Sport, non M) as compared to a top of the line regular X5? (in terms of Acceleration, Handling, and Ride)

The 50i engine is great in the X5, has a deep growl and lots of power. But in comparison, the M just feels so much faster. The question is, is it worth the extra 20k?

The handling as far as I remember (I drove the X6) was great in both. Unfortunately I didn't really get to test it to the point I'd want to. But either way, both are amazing and can't lose with either.

No comparison in my opinion. I came from an '08 4.8 X5 and have a lot of time in an X6 50 and in every mode and situation the X5M is far superior. suspension, transmission, steering response, brakes. This is my 5th X5 and absolutely the best hands down. Worth every penny.

I have both a 10 X5 M Sport and a 10 X5M.

They are both great cars but the M is far, far more car.
Of course the M Sport is a 30 so it's not quite apples to apples.

But still…

There is really no comparison between 3.0 and M as far as drive train is concerned. I did test drive all variety of Xs before getting this one. It is 15k better than 5.0, although this is highly subjective.

I love both my X's. But there's nothing like driving my X5M.

The 30 X5 M Sport is fun car in it's own right and it's a great daily driver.

Drive the X5m for 5 minutes, and you will understand why this kind of question isn't even worth asking

I drive my X5M everyday but have never driven any other X5.
My question was predicated on the difference in driving Normal vs Sport mode.
Is the normal 8 Cylinder X5 in Sport mode (I assume it has one) slower and less responsive than X5M in Normal?
The 5 Series GT that I drove for 2 days as a loaner in Sport mode was quicker and more responsive than the X5M in Normal mode.
