Yeah I'm with you guys on the runflat issue. BMW should just use a Slime kit like they do on the ///M3.......Phil

These are the differences between tire sizes. The 295/40 is has slightly bigger overall diameter and side wall. The increased diameter partially fixes the erroneous speedo of BMW, speedo would continue to read faster than actual speed in fact but with less margin. Otherwise no other ill effect. I did this primarily to be able to drive the car in winter as well and got a few other benefits as extra bonus. I can not think of any downside except running into a flat tire one day for which I have the space saver.

I am not that concerned with getting a flat.
I carry a Mercedes kit with me. Airpump and tire slime canister. are you sure the added diameter doesn not throw the speedo off? Plus that is probably why the ride is better. The back 315 hit bumps like a brick. My buddy drove my truck and agreed it rides really harsh for a SUV or SAV or whatever they call it. It would be great if you can post some pics. i would like to see how the larger front tire sits on the smaller wheel. Also due to the slightly smaller rear sneaker, is it possible it will not sandblast they lips as bad? My plan with the 298m was they are smaller and would probably sandblast less during winter driving.

For those waiting on the back-order Conti' 275's...received a call yesterday from Tirerack that they're in.
Not sure i'd use them during winter seasons tho'...prefer to stick with dedicated snows. |

Thats great news. Now the what do I do??? Square set up? or replacement sizes?? i have noticed the factory front tires are getting worn on the outer edges. Granted, Hammering turns in a 5500lb truck will do that. But by using the square setup, will the edge wear be reduced? if understeer is reduced, less correction would be needed in tight turns. So would that reduce edge wear??

I believe it when I see it. The site still shows it back ordered. It is a tough call for me at this point. At the very least I would reduce the stagger by going 295/275 or 295 square

I just took off my Bridgestones at 22780 miles and put on staggered setup Michelin Lattitude HP's. So far you can tell the runflats are gone. ride is much nicer and yes you can feel the suspension more. So far tire noise is greatly reduced and cornering and steering feedback seem to have increased but may be my mind playing tricks on me.
So far happy with the change and wish I would have done it sooner. Ill post more as I break in the tires a bit if anyone is interested.
