This is a tough one. I really love this truck but having to visit the dealership every other month sucks. The Lemon law in Wisconsin is for only in the first year. BMW does not legally have to do anything for me. Frankly, this situation sucks for all parties involved. If they buy the truck back they usually give you what you paid minus mileage. I would lose out because of all the extras I have in it. They don't want to buy it and I don't want to lose out.

I made one phone call to BMWUSA. I explained the situation and a possible solution (extend the warranty). He told me he would call the dealership and get back to me. The next day I got an "engine malfunction, reduced power" warning. Two days later I got a call from BMW. They offered me $3,000 towards an extended warranty. The warranty I got was the platinum (includes everything i.e. navigation) for 5 year 100k miles. I paid $900. The $3,000 would have paid for the entire gold package.

All in all, I think it is a very reasonable solution. I like the truck and get to keep it. I don't lose out on all of my extras. And they cover any additional issues up to 100k miles.

I was pleasant and the gentleman from BMW was pleasant, courteous and to the point. They didn't mess around. Maybe I could have pushed for the entire platinum package but I felt I was treated well and it was a good solution.

Thank you BMW. While the reliability on this particular truck blows. I appreciate the service I received.

PS. This doesn't mean I won't sell it in the spring and get a 911...
