Refuelling ur x5m!!

Hey fellow bimmer bros!!!
Just got my new 2012 BMW x5m!! And I am loving it so far!!!!!
But I have one question! Okay so I already know the fatty is a gas guzzler but I didn't expect it to empty so quickly.

So I filled up the tank on Friday night, and already it has a quarter of the gallon left. Well I heard that its not good for the car to drive if the gallon is below the quarter so basically friends tell me to refuel as soon as fuel goes to a quarter?

Is it really true it's that bad for the car?

How often do u guys refuel?

I've never really worried about it. I mean its one thing if your tracking a car and you are really pulling some Gs but for street driving it's not s big deal.

That is a new one, have not hear of it... don't see it in the manual either.

You don't want to drive too long once the light comes on, people say the pump may suck the junk at the end of the tank if you run out of gas. Your friend may have exaggerated a bit

Filled the whole tank for about 26 dollars! I'm refuelling twice a week.

$26 bucks.... yeah I can drive for a day for 26 bucks! For me I typically fill up any of my vehicles when I get near a quart tank. My rationality has nothing to do with sucking things out of the tank, running a fuel pump dry, etc it's simpler. I hate having to get gas in the mornings so that way I'll at minimum have a 1/4 tank when I leave the house.

I've always been told not to run below a quarter of a tank because it makes it harder on the pumps. At about a quarter a tank your pump isn't really submerged and gets hotter because its not surrounded by the liquid to help cool it. Not sure if it's correct but that's what I've heard about it.

in the long run it's bad for the fuel pumps. my friend just had to replace a fuel pump on their cayenne, but i guess that suv has two fuel pumps and both needed to be replaced!
