A mistake buying a 2013 X5 M?

I've almost purchased an X5 M on more than one occasion..... Now I'm back in love with it again.

There is a new 2013 at my local dealership optioned exactly how I would order it. Sticker is $102k.

Is this the last year of production for the E70 and would it be a mistake? I would likely only keep it for two years..... But possible longer.

Not sure what to do.....

Also, what kind of discount should I expect?

2 yrs from now the going price may be considerably less than you think.

Depreciation on that kind of car, in 2 years, will be substantial, and it is not exactly in the realm of 'collectible' any time soon.

The answer: is a $102G sticker suv 'worth it' to you...

No idea of what discount you should chase.

It is certainly the cheapest badass SAV out there short of SRT. I don't know your financial situation but it is never a good investment buying expensive cars. If you worried about new one coming out you can either lease or pick up a used one, it is a great car!
I would demand invoice pricing or about 7-8K off MSRP for a 13

fyi, I am also looking at an almost loaded X5 50 with the power package... $78k MSRP. If I finance, it is what it is, but the lease deal is so shitty on the M, from what I can tell.

I dont know the residual, but based on the "estimate payment" function on BMWUSA - the X5M is 34.5% more expensive but the monthly on a 36mo/15k mi lease is 59.4% more expensive!

Ill find out the money factors and residuals tomorrow but if the M is going to be that much of a ripoff, Id rather go with the 50!

FYI, the stuff on web site is usually inaccurate. I would stop by the dealer and run the numbers.

Next gen X5 M is in testing, and you will probably see in concept form late 2013 or early 2014.

You should be able to find a dealer offering $1000 over invoice.
There are few incentives BMW is offering right now(above the $1000 over invoice), talk to your dealer.
For BMWFS customers - BMW Ultimate Drive App - expires 7/31

I've had mine since Dec. 2009 and have a little over 24k miles. I can honestly say that I still really love driving it every time. I get to take some pretty curvy roads on my commute home and it never ceases to amaze me. Yes depreciation in 2 years will be horrible but that's still 2 years away. You can always keep it for 3-4 years and let BMW work out all the first year bugs on the next M, then purchase that one. I'm pretty sure I'll end up getting an extended warranty and keep this one for 6-7 years unless it starts breaking down on me. But so far so good.
