M54 Oil cap seal

Over the last year ive noticed an oil spot shadow on the beauty plate just around and beneath the oil cap nothing major.

https://bimmertips.com/bmw-valve-cov...ket-ring-seal/

While thumbing threw eBay...I found the rein fill cap rings. They were cheap considering. Guess they were a deal 5bux.
Anyways delvery was made...the rings were very plyable? Almost flimsly? The current rings were not but remember they (3) are 14 years old or better. I made the install, two without taking the cover off. Can't see how the seal is made...but no problems or wet spots on the beauty plate as of yet.
I'll test run the other two later today. Oh! I kept the original 3 on hand just in case.

This is a useless feature.

In every single M52, M54 engines I have had...I removed the cosmetic covers and sell them on ebay for ~ $35/each.

Now I only have the oil filler cap in place.
The ignition coils are exposed, making it much easier to inspect and wipe off spilled oil. Also, by removing the cosmetic cover, the coils are not trapped in a heated environment.

I have for a period ran without the beauty plate...in my mind the engine is complete with the beauty cover on...that's just me.
However, I don't use the under belly plate (except for long hwy trips) I need to see if a leak has developed right away.
Also, I stopped using the headlight caps/cover because of the heat peeling away the wire jackets allowing them to touch. Bulbs ain't cheap you know...so I understand that thinking.
BTW not seeing any more shadows of oil.
