Question How to set up Bluetooth on pre-owned '04 X3?

Hi,

Finally, I bought a cpo 2004 X3 with premium package. It runs great! I would like to pair up my RAZR with it, but when I follow the instruction to press "talk button" for 3 second, it looks like the system tried to place a call and got an error message from Verizon wireless. I seems the previous owner had used the feature somehow. Does anyone know how to solve this matter?

Regards,
TJ

From the manual:

Deleting Devices
The paired Bluetooth
TM mobile phones can only be deleted as a single group
from the ULF control module.
The pairing procedure must first be activated, and then the send/receive
button on the installed eject-box or the pairing button located at the rear of the
center console must again be depressed for an additional 10 seconds after the
“Bluetooth Pairing” message is displayed on the radio in order to clear the list of
paired devices from the control module and the message “paired devices
deleted” is displayed.

Unhappy

The problem is I did not have the carddle nor see any button to press in center compartment. What I have is "talk button" on the steering wheels.

BTW, if your X3 was manufactured prior to 10/2004, you do not have Bluetooth. However, it may be retrofitted. I am not certain of the exact details/part numbers, etc. needed for the retrofit, but if you do a search on this forum in the "Bluetooth" section, I'm almost positive you'll find the answer. GL! Oh, and :xoutpost:

Bluetooth was a VERY hot subject a couple of years ago, at least for 04 USA X3's.
In spite of documentation stating we have Bluetooth
WE DO NOT!!!

follow these links and search here and other X3 forums

http://www.x3world.com/bluetooth/
http://bluetoothyourbmw.com/

good luck and let us know if/when you get your bluetooth working

I recall the dealership informing me that the '04 X3s come equipped with the Bluetooth capabilities. Why would they give me that stupid Bluetooth card that contains the Pass Key on it when you pair your phone with the X3?

I’m upset because I just recently tried to pair my phone (don’t ask me how).

I got the stupid card with my '04 as well, and was livid when, 1 month after owning the car, the dealer retracted her statement that it was equipped with Bluetooth. If you decide to do it, I've been told that it's an expensive retrofit. GL!

So then to confirm what you said earlier...if you have an X3 that was manufactured before 10/2004 you don't have the Bluetooth feature? Right?
