For example, in europe you can order a 320i with an M bodykit, M steering wheel, M wheels, M interior trim and an M gearshift knob.
I take exception only to your comment that we in Canada are not on this side of the pond.

As noted in my post above, we can order the 325 coupe, 330 cab, 530xiT, 530, and 550 with the full M Sport packages, including sport suspension, sport seats, M wheel, M aero package, high gloss shadowline trim, parallel spoke M wheels, chrome M door sills, and anthracite roof liner (except the cab). The xiT does not have the sport suspension, but is otherwise just like the other M Sport performance editions. Interestingly, on the X3, the chrome gauge rings are deleted with the M Sport package. What were they thinking? Owners will have to mod it!

Wow, sweet color combo! I leased my new Sport last night! It is Mystic Blue Metallic over Sand Beige Montana Leather. I too wanted Terracotta, but as you know it's rare and the dealer couldn't find one with my options. I pick it up next week, can't wait!

One question: Any complaints about the Sport Package suspension? it certainly felt fine to me, but the salesman commented that he had some complaints about the firmness of it.

I have no complaints about the sport package suspension at all; however, all my BMWs have had the sport package, so I'm probably used to the harsher ride by now. Perhaps someone will comment who has driven an X3 with and without the sport package.

Bruce did you debate x5 against x3. I am from a land down under (Aussie) We are currently in runout mode for the 2006 x5 and soon to get the upgraded x3.
currently I drive an ML merc. dont hold this against me !!! My dilemma is which to favour. I will be choosing the 3.0 ltre diesel motor but a 3 or a 5 is my problem. Your comments would be appreciated.

No, I never really considered the X5. Although I really like the styling of the X5, especially after the "facelift", it's just a little too big for me and more than I would want to spend on a car. I lease my cars, and now that I work from home and don't drive all that often, I really wanted to decrease my monthly payment. My last car was an almost fully loaded 330ci convertible and I was paying about $750 a month and hardly ever driving it. Although I LOVED that car, it was painful to write that check every month. I'm a big BMW fan and definitely wanted to stay in the BMW family, so when considering a new car, I was looking mainly at the E90 330i. I test drove one and thought it was nice, but I've already had a 3 series sedan and wanted something different. I've always liked the X3 and had one as a loaner for a few days. I really liked how it drove and I loved sitting a bit higher than most traffic. I also liked the changes made for 2006 like the body colored bumpers as well as the M kit on the sport package, and at the time I ordered BMW was offering very attractive lease deals on the X3. I negotiated a price of $42,000 and got the base money factor and base acquisition fee and my monthly payment is around $470.
So far, I've only put about 200 miles on the X3 and overall I really like it. My only complaints are that the sterring is a little "light" compared to my old convertible and the DSC kicks in a little too often during spirited driving in the twisties, but I know its just trying to save my ass!
