Window Tinting an X3 2004

I recently bought a X3 2004 3.0, I have had 2 different people/companies try to tint the windows both have failed to meet my expectations. They are having problems on the edges and around the inside trim. They can not reach the edges because the window guard on the inside is to narrow. Does anyone know a solution to this problem. I'm thinking about doing it myself at this point. Does anyone know a quality company or person in the carolinas or georgia or even florida where I could take my car to have perfessional service.

Hey arperry...I was wondering the same thing. (I just bought an ' 04 3.0 too) You ever get any advice or find a solution? Perhaps with precut tint to fit the windows and a couple smaller squeegees, you might be able to reach into the corners of the windows. There is a guy close to be that has been tinting for years and has a great reputation. I was going to take the SAV to him to see if he thought he could do it.

I'm not sure what part of town you are in but the guy who does the tinting for BMW of Houston North does an incredible job. He works on the side as well so you don't have to pay dealer prices. He did my 745 last year for $120 and I was very impressed with his work.

Derek,

Thanks for the tip. I'm in Clear Lake so N side is inconvenient..but I'm willing to drive that far if I have to. However...I stopped by the local shop that has a very good reputaiton - Pablo Blue. Been tinting windows since 1983. The owner knew about the tight fit in the corner of the windows and said its not a problem. He said he has done many BMW's. I'm going to have him tint the front two windows. I think he quoted me like $65? I don't recall exactly, but when I got the price it seemed very reasonable. (BTW...cash or check only, no credit cards) I've seen his work before and it looked fine so I'm going to trust that he will do a good job. He has been around a while and said he stands behind his work so hopefully things will turn out OK!

Chip

Follow up...had the front side windows tinted. Looks fine, only $85. Will do the rest of the vehicle for ~165 if I opt for it. (seriously thinking about it)

Glad it worked out, tint the whole vehicle. I guess I got lucky, when mine was tinted there were no issues.

Second follow up...had the remaining windows tinted for $169. Came out great. My X3 already had the privacy glass so the back windows came out looking a little darker than the front. I like it! With my current a/c problems I need to keep the interior as cool as possible.
